  10. -- WHAT IS 3D Studio? --

  12. 3D Studio is a 3D modeling, rendering and animation package from the
  13. makers of AutoCAD, AutoDesk.  The software runs on the IBM/compatible
  14. platform.  The 3D Studio software allows and artist to create three
  15. dimensional photo-realistic images for a variety of purposes.

  17. -- WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? --

  19. This mailing list is for those interested in the 3D Studio software, how
  20. it operates and in ideas on how to obtain the best quality images
  21. available to them.  The list is for those who own the software as well
  22. as those just interested in what can be done with the package. We hope
  23. to share information, tips, procedures and to bond as a group.

  25. -- WHAT ARE THE RULES? --

  27. Since 3D Studio is just a part of suite of tools required to produce 3D
  28. graphics and animation, I'm sure we will discuss a few items related to
  29. the IBM/Compatible platform and display devices.  However, we will
  30. strive to keep the subject revolving specifically around the 3D
  31. software, related tools and products.

  37. To become a member of the 3D Studio mailing list you must send a mail
  38. message to the address:

  50. The listserv software will automatically subscribe you to the list and
  51. you can also unsubscribe the same way using unsubscribe instead of
  52. subscribe as the command you send to the listserv software

  54. -- HOW DO I POST TO THE LIST? --

  56. Contributing to the list is simple.  Just mail your articles to the
  57. following address:

  61. Your article will be processed by the system and distributed to all
  62. others joined to the list.  Your articles will also be sent to you so
  63. you know that your article has made it to the list.

  76. PLEASE, if you join the list and your account is going to be closed or

  79. short while still send a request for a suspension of your membership.

  81. -- WHAT ABOUT OLD ARTICLES? --

  83. I am currently archiving all the articles posted to the list at the
  84. originating site (bobsbox).  However, I can not continue to do this due
  85. to lack of disk space.  What we need is a volunteer that will maintain a
  86. compendium of articles sent to the list.  They can compress and store
  87. them in archives on their system.  They can then periodically post an
  88. index of the contents of the compendium and any other information that
  89. relates.

  91. If there are no volunteers then maybe someone can donate a large SCSI
  92. hard drive to me for archival purposes. <grin>
  93.  
  94. I have setup a mail-based file server so that anyone interested in the
  95. list can obtain information as well as the entire archive of past
  96. articles, the membership listing and other information pertaining to
  97. the 3D Studio mailing list. For information on this service, please
  98. send a mail message to:

  102. The first command to the server must be "HELP" or "USER name <passwd>".

  104. Use HELP to request a current copy of the helpfile.
